- Take plenty of business cards and keep them in a handy pocket
- Identify and target the people you want to meet
- Introduce yourself to new people, don’t stand with your friends
- Talk to people who are on their own or in pairs
- Ask questions and listen to the answers
- Only talk about yourself if you are asked
- Hold onto people cards while you’re talking to them
- Write notes on the back if you need to remember anything
- Introduce people to each other then move on
- Follow up within 48 hours or it’s too late
